's susan boyle. bill: here we go. a fox news exclusive. former cia director david petraeus who resigned friday after acknowledging the extramarital affair with his biographer has agreed to testify voluntarily before the house and senate intelligence committee. prior to his resignation he had been scheduled to testify about the scandal in benghazi, libya where the ambassador and three other americans were killed. that was initially blamed on a spontaneous demonstration over a film, a mob. he has contacted the cia as well as committees in the house and senate to offer his testimony meanwhile, new questions on whether or not general petraeus told everything that he knew on benghazi the first time he sat down for testimony. that would have been three days after the attack on the 14th of september. so good morning. a lot to chew on. we'll connect all the dots. i'm bill hemmer. good morning. martha: that's a huge headline that petraeus will testify. lawmakers were set to be briefed by the fbi today on capitol hill. they have a lot of questions about all of this. why did no one inform congress

about her personal access to david petraeus and that she, indeed, had unprecedented access to him. no other writer, no other reporter has had. so this just adds to the mystery. what really went on here? what did she know? what did she think she knew and why she was out there saying these things. >> and quickly, i want to talk about this benghazi issue as well. clearly these questions are not going to go away. this thursday it's time for him to testify about this. we all know that congress has subpoena power. so stepping down on friday, many have said this was an effort to try to sweep it under the rug and not testify. that's just not the case. if they want him, they got him. >> absolutely. congress has complete authority to subpoena him to compel him to appear. but for congress to subpoena someone, that becomes somewhat of a political decision. the intelligence committee run by the democrats, would they go ahead and take that step? who knows. the house intelligence committee, the house controlled by the republicans, they may well. at this point, it's very unclear. but it does seem
could have been an attempt to blackmail david petraeus as head of the the cia. they began to investigate and that is when they came across information about the affair with paula broadwell. however, we also cannot confirm that paula broadwell sent those threatening e-mails to jill kelly, the family friend of petraeus. there's no indication that jill kelly was having an affair with petraeus. the affair that general petraeus admitted to was with paula broadwell and his biographer, but what is interesting, what is not clear at this point is who wrote the threatening e-mails that started this daisy-chain event and may not, according to both families, may not have been paula broadwell herself. this has been painted as a fight between two women over general petraeus, but it's not clear that's what it was at all. >> harris: and that's really the problem, right, jennifer? because if somehow or another someone had gained access to either her e-mail and/or that of general petraeus, that is a compromise. that is, it's not what you want. that's access that might be nefarious and that's why they were
